What happens when you create with a collection... you don't like?

Full disclosure: When I first started working with Dazzling Dahlia Paper Collection, I complained. A lot. Out loud. I did not (do not) understand all this orange and purple together. And pink and yellow and green. Apparently, this collection is fiercely independent and doesn't need me to understand it.

That leaves me feeling outwitted by a paper collection.

I'm pretty sure these butterflies are laughing at me.

I didn't wait long enough for the Stickles to dry. So, when I added the prills, random bits got caught in the Stickles. This paper collection now has its own deity. We have a divine intervention!

It's easy to stuff leaves under flowers,

but how about some random tags and some sparkly, too?

Do I like this color scheme now? NO.

Am I still creating with it?. YEP. Can't help myself. Come back next month.

Flower Can

 

The papers here are a mix of Tea for Two by Cosmo Cricket and Sun Kiss by Prima. Now. that stamp. That is from the early days of Heartfelt Creations. It was an unmounted stamp without cling or block. I have no idea what it's called or where it went. It's no longer in my stash. Bummer. You can see where I have used it before here and here.

Duck Bath

 

This stamp is from My Heart Stamps for You and is sold on eBay. They have a website but it's... primitive. I colored the image with oil based pencils. The papers are a mix from Vintage Bliss by Simple Stories and Tea for Two by Cosmo Cricket. The flowers are stamped and cut from Arianna Blooms by Heartfelt Creations. The leaves are stamped and cut from Small Classic Petunia by Heartfelt Creations. The die is Spellbinders and the border punch is Martha Stewart.

The papers are from Crate Paper and K & Company. The stamp is a digi that I colored with Loew-Cornell pencils. The sentiment is from Wild Rose Studio and the dies are Spellbinders. The little banner punch is EK Success and the rub on stitching is DCWV.

Peony Bouquet

The papers here are from The Lake House by Kaisercraft. The stamp is from Flourishes LLC and probably designed by Marcella Hawley. Terrible news: Flourishes LLC went out of business years ago. Awesomesauce news: Marcella Hawley has her own stamp company called Power Poppy. 

Even better: she sells digital and clear stamps.

I stamped this image on watercolor paper. I was experimenting around and discovered that I like the look of chalks on watercolor paper. The sentiment is from Circle Greetings by Wild Rose Studio.

Polishing off Portrait

 

I love the old collections from Crate Paper including Portrait, Restoration, and Random. I cut up the last bits of any of it that I had and squeezed out a few more cards and tags.

Here, I topped the card with cardstock stickers, punched pieces, and trim.

The sentiment is from Stamps Happen. The dies are Spellbinders.

The stamp is a digi and I colored it with Staedtler pencils.

Lazy Duck Days

 

I want to be this duck when I grow up. He is part of Father's Day in the Popcorn the Bear series by Crafter's Companion. After a search, I discovered that this stamp set is now rare and hard to find. I had no idea! Those impulse purchases turn into something special sometimes, don't they? The papers here are a mix of Sun Kiss by Prima and Tea for Two by Cosmo Cricket.
