Pumpkin Pants is running a wee fever so I'm making the most of our sick day with some crafting time.
Poor me, right?
Really, I need to be at work. I missed two days just a couple of weeks ago because my husband because fell and broke his wrist. Rollerblading. He's 50. More on that adventure another day.
Back to crafting...
I discovered Counterfeit Kits awhile back and loved the concept. I finally decided to make my own kit using their January 2013 inspiration kit. I never did get my kit loaded into the challenge and I certainly didn't get any projects done with it either. You know, the whole broken wrist thing.
I put together this kit and was inspired to use it for today's layout. Not a bad kit, eh?
I followed a sketch from PageMaps posted as the February Challenge Sketch for Paper Secrets. The papers are from Portrait by Crate Paper. You can find some of it on sale at Paper Secrets. My layout is missing some of my signature embellishments: no brads, no rub ons, no stamps, no creature features.
So, what's left?
Layers and stitching! I inked the chipboard piece with TH Vintage Photo (and everything else on the LO) and sprayed with my favorite Wheatfields Glimmer Mist. The circle element is from the Portrait pack. I cut the January from a calendar piece of Portrait paper. The butterfly punch is Fiskars. I double layered the butterflies. The 2004 is from a Dymo labeler. Love that thin! The ric rac is American Crafts. All topped with some machine stitching.
On the left: crochet flower by Kaisercraft and a handmade flower by either Vivian or Stephanie. Terrible me that I don't know! Hopefully, one of them will stop by and set me straight. The title piece is a die cut from the Portrait collection. The journaling card was cut from Portrait paper. I used a Micron pen for journaling and a Prismacolor pen for doodling at the bottom. The die cut on the right is from the Portrait collection and the button is from my stash. The red splotches are Candy Apple Red Glimmer Mist.
I had intended to layer these banner pieces with embellishments. However, I really like the textured grey topped with gold Stickles and machine stitching- that I messed up...
we'll call it "whimsical."
I just HAD to use one of the polaroid die cuts. It makes a reference to my journaling. The music thingies are Prima. The reddish border punched piece is Martha Stewart. And there's my little chevron addition. Can you see it? It's pointing to the dymo label "music."
Thanks for stopping by!
