Today Whimsy Stamps is releasing its first issue of the Whimsy Stamps Inspirations Magazine! It's packed with amazing samples from the design team and customers as well as three different tutorials that you can follow along with step-by-step. My Card in the Magazine.

I visited Kenny K's store last year but just sort of shrugged my shoulders. Not my style and all... WELL... I needed a "fun" girl that I could dress up like Lady Gaga. I have a friend who is a BIG fan and I thought it would be great fun to give him this birthday card.

Kenny K calls her Lady Raven. Don't like digis? Wouldn't she look great heat embossed and shiny? She is available as the trendy cling rubber stamp at Whimsy Stamps. I used Scarlett paper by Glitz Design. Perfect, right?! I used the Distrezz-it-all and TH black ink on the edges. Some machine stitching. I also dabbed the black ink on the white lace. The background is glimmer misted with silver for extra sparkle. 

I used Prismacolor pencils and OMS. Topped with stickles, glitter gel pen, glaze pens, and glossy accents. I used a gold leafing pen (like a fancy paint marker) on the edges of the spellbinder die cut. Lady was fussy cut and pop dotted to the mat.

The sentiment is handwritten with a micron pen. The musical brad is from The Girls Paperie.

This Moment and a RAK

Yet another LO about my favorite subject: Chance.

Paper from Bohemia by MME. I started with a sketch from Pagemaps.

I doodled the lines with a fine point marker and a ruler. Three yellow buttons from Krissy's stash. I had brought my own buttons to crop at her house last night, but none of them were yellow. That corner punch was rescued from the clearance section at HL. I felt a little indulgent when I bought. Surely, I can just cut my own corners by hand... I use that punch ALL THE TIME! Love a good impulse purchase :) It is Paper Studio brand so if you're wondering if those punches are any good I would certainly say yes!

The orange trim and fleur de lis (sp?) lookin' thing are actually leftovers from a border punch. I wish I could remember where I first saw this idea so I could give her credit. The stitched circle is a DCWV rub on. The dimensional bird is a sticker.

Journaling, of course, on a Colorbok tag. I got this set of tags (a nice variety of shapes) from HL. The border punch is Fiskars. The "inspire" brad is K and Co. The owl brad is from Fine and Dandy by MME. The random brown trim was just sitting on my table, leftover from another project. The yellow trim was sitting on Krissy's table so I helped myself :) If you can't take advantage of your friends, then who can you use? Oh, and the letters and quote rub on are 7Gypsies, RAK'd to me by Krissy.

MY FIRST BLOG RAK

You might have noticed Krissy's name pop up on my blog... um... often. She is such a wonderful and lovable person and I'm so lucky she found me on a scrapbookers dating site, I mean, scrapbook.com last year and suggested we get coffee. We've been connected at the hip ever since!

We love to scrap together. When she comes over, I say "take whatever you want!" When I go to her house, she says "take whatever you want!" We both have so much stuff (and we're thankful) so we trade a lot and wonder why we still have so much stuff. I guess neither of us were ever any good at math LOL

Vintage and Penny Black

I love vintage but I rarely work with that style. I had made a little kit with vintage embellishments for a card last summer and never got around to using it. I finally poured the contents on my mat last night and went to town!

"Just for you" is stamped on the vintage ephemera by 7Gypsies. Bingo card by Jenni Bowlin.  Tape by TH. Black trim from HL. White bead trim from HL and glimmer misted with black.

Cameo button from HL. Handmade flower by Stephanie. I attatched the button with glossy accents.

Stamp by Penny Black. I love this stamp but I think it's difficult to work with. I love what Sharon did with it and I love the sketch she followed, too, so... I copied it :) I used papers from Phresh and Phunky by BG.

I inked the stamp with blue chalk ink. Colored the middle of the stamp with a brown brush tip marker and then stamped on white paper. Stamped again with versamark and embossed the flowers with sparkly blue powder. Used twine and a pretty brad to finish.

White ribbon from Ms. Beaded trim from HL. Gorgeous button... Bazzill, I think.

Classic Beauty

I love this picture of my Mother In Law. She is so beautiful! The photo served as a perfect opportunity to practice my romantic, shabby chic style.

Papers from Gabrielle by BoBunny. The scalloped shape and circle are from Storybook. 

 "beauty" is from Gypsy Font and "classic" is from Hannah Montana. "classic" is topped with silver Glimmer Mist. "beauty" is from the BB paper, topped with TH Tattered Rose crackle paint and stamped with archival ink, music stamp. A bit of black inking on the edges.

Lots going on here. Floral vine by Stephanie, topped with Silver and Coffee Glimmer Mist. Bead trim from HL. Pink brads by MM. The flowers with the Kaiser brad is Prima.

The flower on the L is handmade by Stephanie. The yellow flower on the R is Prima.

I cut these little sprays in various shades of green from the Storybook cart. Topped with Tattered Rose crackle paint, glimmer misted with Coffee and Silver, and rubbed with a light green chalk ink.

Both lace trims are Prima. The pleated trim is by Pink Paislee. The black floral accent is part of a clear sticker by AC. The rub on at the top is by Pink Paislee and topped with Kaiser pearls.

Little details in the upper R of the LO. I beat these embellishments into submission with Glossy Accents.

She really is so beautiful!

Featuring Melonheadz and Beccy

Have I mentioned how much I love digis? I started using them back in February and I am SOOOOO addicted!

The digi sentiment is by Melonheadz. I could spend all day on her site!

Papers are from MME. The bead trim is from HL and is definitely one of my favorite embellishments lately! I hold it down with Glossy Accents.

Three little brads.

The digi is by Beccy. I've spent a lot of hours on her site too! The background paper started at a piece of white cs. I distress inked with Old Paper and Vintage Photo. Added a misting of Forest Green. Stamped with a Stampin Up flower, archival black ink. I discovered this technique at SCS last year and LOVE it. BeckyTE did an awesome job on this card. I don't do it often enough. The LO and textures on this card were inspired by patsmethers.

I colored with Loew-Cornell pencils. I got some coloring and shading ideas from Dini and warrd.

Using Glimmer Mist for Journaling Spots

This LO is being featured at Crop Chocolate today.

Nerdy Bird by Sassafras. I could have gone with the trendy shabby chic, flowery fabulousness... or even dark and mysterious with lots of fun TH techniques. It would have been a great opportunity to move outside of my usual style. However, I don't exude shabby chic-ness and I'm not mysterious. I'm something of a clown and a kid magnet. I chose Nerdy Bird by Sassafras since I'm a nerd and a music teacher. I used my kiddie embellishments because I sing, dance, crawl on the floor all day, and thrive on silly jokes. I included a quote about being a mother because it is my most favorite job ever. My little boy took that picture last summer when he was four years old and I thought he captured me perfectly.

Made a mistake so I punched a circle and foam dotted it, topped with a button.

I followed a sketch by Mojo Monday for both cards today. The papers are by DCWV.

This digi stamp is by Meljen. I colored the cap with Prismcolor pencils and OMS, topped with stickles and a Stardust pen. The circle sentiment is a rubber stamp from Morning Star. I used the Stampamajig (check out "tutorials" under my labels for tips) to get a perfect impression around the digi. The scalloped mat is cut from Spellbinders/Cuttlebug.

I used Alissa by BoBunny. Such sweet colors. Perfect for that sweet cupcake!

I colored the image with Loew-Cornell and Staedtler pencils. Gosh, I love all pencils! I topped the flower and leaf with a Stardust pen for sparkle. I outlined the image with a light blue pencil. The scalloped mat is cut from the Expression, Storybook cart.
